1964 - Leo McGrath (Mike Sr.’s father) purchased his first Buick dealership in Elgin, IL.

1970 - Leo’s oldest son, Michael McGrath, followed in his father’s footsteps and purchased the Heritage Lincoln-Mercury Dealership in Elgin. He continued to acquire several other franchises and developed them into Heritage Auto Village Complex – a 12 acre location.

1987 - Mike Sr. sold the entire auto mall to Currie Motors of London, England.

1990 - Mike Sr. then proceeded to open the flagship McGrath Lexus of Westmont.

1993 - Mike Sr. opened McGrath Acura of Countryside (turned to Westmont in 2001).

1999 - Mike Sr. opened McGrath Lexus of Chicago.

2006 - The expansion continued and Mike Sr. purchased both McGrath City Hyundai and McGrath City Honda.

2012 - Six years later, Mike Sr. opened McGrath Acura of Downtown Chicago.

2015 - Mike Sr.’s two sons, Kevin and Mike Jr., followed in their father’s footsteps and purchased McGrath City Honda, Hyundai, Acura Chicago, and Acura Westmont from Mike Sr.

2016 - Kevin and Mike Jr. focused on growing the family business and purchased McGrath Arlington Kia with Will Mulcahy as partner.

2020 - Kevin and Mike Jr. purchased McGrath City Mazda.

2021 - Kevin and Mike Jr. purchased McGrath Evanston Subaru and continue to focus on building and growing the McGrath Group.

2021 – Kevin and Mike Jr. purchased McGrath Highway Chevy/Buick/GMC in El Paso, IL, with Will Mulcahy as partner.

2022 – Kevin and Mike Jr. purchased McGrath Fulton Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram in Fulton, MO, with Will Mulcahy as partner.
